ASCII
Definition
ASCII stands for American Standard Code for Information Interchange. Each character is represented by a 7-bit terminal code, for a total of 128 characters.

BEL: when you try and backspace to the end, terminal makes sound
- ASCII codes are numbers:
- 'a' - 'A' = 32
- '0' - 48 = 0
- 'I' - 48 = 1

- Ctrl: masks (zeros) bits 5 and 6
