Sampling Methods

See sample. Each of these sampling methods has advantages and disadvantages. The main focus is to avoid bias within sampling.

Simple Ramdom Sampling

Definition

Simple random sampling involves randomly sampling from a population. Simple enough.

Cluster Ramdom Sampling

Definition

Cluster random sampling involves clustering a population by convenience, and running a census on random clusters.

Multistage Sampling

Definition

Multistage sampling involves clustering by convenience, picking random clusters, and doing simple random sampling on these clusters.

Stratified Sampling

Definition

Stratified sampling involves splitting the population into groups (strata) based on similar characteristics, then running a simple random sample from each stratum, proportional to the population.

Systematic Sampling

Definition

Systematic sampling involves surveying every person

Voluntary Sampling

Definition

Voluntary sampling involves putting out a survey, and allow people to answer if they want

Convenience Sampling

Definition

Convenience sampling involves surveying people around you out of convenience
